Good show....lost momentum
The Temptations sounded very good. It's not easy to replace the likes of Eddie Kendrick, Melvin Franklin, David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards but the current members have voices each would be proud of. It was also fun to see original founder Otis Williams performing. The Four Tops were good but unfortunately the show lost some steam after the Temptations performed. I blame Wente for this. Prior to the concert they auctioned off a magnum of wine signed by both groups and threw in a meet and greet with the two groups. So far no problem except they did the meet and greet between the performance of the Temptations and the Four Tops. Approximately 35 minutes went by between the Temptations leaving the stage and the Four Tops making it to the stage. Many people left. The Four Tops started when most concerts at Wente are over. It was tough to get the crowd back into it. Their lead singer is good but he's no Levi Stubbs. Seeing and listening to original member Duke Fakir was fun though. It's too bad Wente handled the show this way.
Overall the Four Tops should have been on first and the Temptations should have closed the show without a ridiculous long intermission.
